About the Trust

The Penistone Cinema Organ Trust was founded by Kevin Grunill in 1999. The Compton organ remained in storage since its purchase in 1994 and it was not until a new home was found for the organ that the Trust was formed. Several Committee members are also Committee members of the White Rose Organ Society and we have a strong bond between the two groups.

The Trust was formed to install the Compton and present concerts on the organ, following its installation at the Penistone Paramount. Since this time, PCOT have gone from strength to strength and now not only present regular monthly concerts featuring the Compton but also weekly lunchtime concerts, featuring our Allen 317ex which is installed locally in St Andrews church, Penistone.

Following the successful installation and opening of the Compton organ at the Penistone Paramount, PCOT were asked to restore the Wurlitzer organ in the Blackpool Opera House back into playing condition once again. Work was carried out by PCOT volunteers and the Opera House Wurlitzer was brought back into action again in November 2001 at a special concert organised by Kevin Grunill.
